Caring for your teeth from a young age

As your children grow, their teeth and mouths change rapidly. Maintaining good oral health is important at any age, but at this stage it’s particularly important, as problems acquired in childhood can have a major impact later in life. As each new tooth appears, its rough chewing surfaces will be especially prone to decay. That’s why they should come and see us in Clifton Moor regularly for a check-up, and to benefit from our passionate commitment to preventative dentistry.

Educating children about good oral hygiene habits

In addition to helping children learn about dental health, we offer treatments to protect their growing teeth. These include fluoride treatments, to boost the amount of fluoride coming into direct contact with their teeth. We can also provide a bite analysis, if you have concerns about how their teeth are coming in, as a way of determining whether or not orthodontic treatment might be required.

At Clifton Moor Dental Centre we aim to make our children’s dental appointments relaxed, positive and fun experiences for all of our young patients and their parents.

FAQs

Common questions about
children’s dentistry

What age should children first see a dentist?

Children should visit the dentist as soon as their first baby teeth appear and no later than their first birthday. This helps them to become familiar with the practice environment and for their dentist to get to know them and their dental health from an early age.

When should children first brush their teeth?

As soon as their first baby teeth appear, you should either brush your child’s teeth for them or supervise their brushing twice a day. Our team can provide tips for parents and children, teaching great brushing and flossing techniques.

Making time for your family’s dental health

We know how busy family life can be and do all we can to make seeing your dentist as convenient as possible. Our family appointments help make things easier. We can also reserve certain times just for families and children, to make things a little calmer in Practice. Just give our friendly dental receptionists a call to make an appointment.
