Our dental clinic is open and you can read our COVID-safe procedures here.

We have unfortunately had to temporarily stop our beauty treatments in line with Government regulations. All existing appointments will be rescheduled.

Helping you feel at ease at every appointment

Our experienced team has undertaken extensive training to support nervous and anxious patients. We will do everything we can to help you to feel calm. From simple relaxation techniques to safe and effective IV sedation, we want you to feel confident about your dental visit at Clifton Moor.

Why are patients nervous of the dentist?

There can be a whole range of reasons why people get anxious even at the thought of visiting the dentist.

These can include:

A painful or difficult past dental experience

Anxiety around pain or discomfort

Uncomfortable in new surroundings

Inherited or learned anxiety from others

There can also be differing levels of fear over the dentist. For some people, even making an appointment can cause anxiety, while others are so phobic that they will avoid the dentist entirely.

However dental anxiety affects you, we have lots of ways to help you feel more relaxed and comfortable about getting the dental care you need.

Pop in to see us

If you’re feeling nervous about booking an appointment, start by popping in to see our friendly team. We can have an informal chat about your concerns and give you a quick tour of the Practice, so it begins to feel a little more familiar. We’ll always take time to listen and to discuss how we can help.

Your comfort is our priority

Once you are ready for your appointment, our experienced dentists will go at a pace that suits you. We use non-invasive technology for scans and x-rays and The Wand for more comfortable injections. Your dentist will make sure you are comfortable at every step of the treatment.

Sedation options for a relaxing treatment journey

For particularly nervous patients or complicated procedures, we can also provide safe, gentle sedation to help you feel at ease. You’ll be awake and responsive throughout the treatment, but will remember very little afterwards. If both you and your dentist feel sedation is a suitable solution, you will need to have someone available to help you get home after your treatment. You will likely feel a little drowsy for a short while afterwards, so won’t be able to drive and ideally should have some company.

If you are feeling anxious about attending a dental appointment, call us for a chat and help us provide you with a positive experience at Clifton Moor Dental Centre.
